I had the opportunity to take out a demo Hobie iTrek9 inflatable kayak from Strictly Sail & Kayak @strictlysailkayak9272 for a kayaks fishing tournament on the Great Miami River. I knew the river section I was fishing had a lot of shallow riffles so I wanted to bring the kayak with the shallowest draft that still had good stability and comfort. The iTrek9 was great! It took about 20 minutes for me to inflate with a hand pump and then set up the seat & crate that I was going to use for storage and rod holders. The kayak tracks really well with the Hobie Mirage Drive pedals and rudder in combination, but if you want to go really shallow you can pull the pedals and lift the rudder and just paddle the kayak like an inflatable raft!
The Hobie iTrek9 I demoed is the smaller of the two iTrek models and has one air chamber which makes it pack down to a smaller and lighter carrying backpack. The iTrek11 is the larger model which has three air chambers and is slightly larger which makes it just slightly more stable in my opinion, although both are fantastic options!
If you enjoyed my video I'd really appreciate it if you would subscribe and follow me on the socials. My dream is to one day hit the road in an RV and fish the country so I need to either win the lotto or keep building up my channels!:
