π Hi, I'm Claire and I'm currently hiking to Everest Base Camp!
After the hair raising flight into Lukla, the day was not over!
We had to walk for around four hours to reach Phakding, where we would stay the night.
The recommendation is to "trek high, sleep low", so while Lukla is around 2,800 metres, Phakding is around 2,600 metres π₯Ύ
It was a fairly easy walk, but I did find it quite a tough day - let me tell you, hiking at this altitude on 2 hours sleep is still tough π I'd recommend people stay near Ramechhap the night before if possible to avoid driving there in the middle of the night.
It was lovely to see the first parts of Sherpa culture - the stupas and prayer wheels are stunning π
Finally we arrived in Phakding, where we had dinner (we eat all dinners at the tea house we stay at) and bed. We had ensuite rooms in this tea house which was a luxury, although showers were freezing cold π₯Ά (but later on in the trek we can't even have showers!).
