Also William knew all along that Michael was lying so he could punish Elizabeth for a reason.
So I have a feeling even if the actual Mike did record Charlie, he still would’ve punished Elizabeth because he doesn’t want to hurt his son.
Even when he found out he murdered Chris he only killed his friends and didn’t kill him even though he’s the reason Elizabeth also died
