Technically he didn’t give Murray the tech for ignoring him. The tech was for the “brush away” hand gesture.. which is deemed as disrespectful and almost always gets a tech now. But the ref is the one that followed him and initiated the confrontation, so the ref should have let it go.

1) The NBA needs to rescind this tech. 2) I think there should be transparent accountability- If a player, coach, or team gets a fine or suspension the NBA puts out a press release and tells the entire world, but when a ref does something they’re all like “It will be handled entirely”. No, if everyone gets to know what punishment the players, coach, and team gets.. than everyone should get to know what punishment the refs get.
