the song very clearly states "there was a farmer who had a DOG, AND Bingo was his name-o." it would be very unwise to assume that the farmer's name is bingo based on the contextual evidence.

It actually originated as a Scottish drinking song! The original lyrics were
"The farmerโs dog leapt over the stile, his name was little Bingo.โ
So indeed the dogs name is Bingo, definitively! ๐
