That’s the weird thing about GM products. The quality is so inconsistent. Some vehicles fall apart and others over 300k.

I’ve got a 2013 Silverado that I bought in ‘16 with 32k. It now has 223k with the original transmission that’s never been serviced and it’s never had a lifter issue either. It may fall apart tomorrow but it’s been rock solid since I’ve had it.

2008 Cadillac Escalade 6.2L with 259K miles and original transmission.I still do drain and refills on it too. It's my daily driver to work. I think the fuel pump is finally getting weak. That's it!!

With a GM, if you don't change your transmission fluid regularly from new. When it gets high mileage and starts to slip. Drain the fluid in a clean container. Change the filter and gasket. PUT THE OLD FLUID BACK IN with some good additive if you want. DO NOT CHANGE THE FLUID ON A WORN OUT TRANSMISSION! Doing this will cause almost immediate failure. If your fluid hasn't been changed, and you have high mileage without issues. Change the filter and use 50-75% of the original fluid and the rest new. Depending on mileage. Low mileage, 50%. High mileage, 75%. It could save your transmission before it gets too worn.
I'm not an expert. Just a GM guy who's seen a lot. It might help, might not. But I can guarantee putting all new fluid in a worn GM transmission will cause failure. I've seen it too many times

The big reason for the transmission woes is people not going by the severe service for fluid and filter changes and the thermostat on side of the 6L80 wouldn’t open until 190 degrees 😎
