I'm autistic and my sister and I both have the same type of dyslexia. I also have dysgraphia (she probably does too) with possible ADHD and dyspraxia. I have hypermobile feet and ankles and I think hands and she is fully hypermobile. She has scoliosis and I have Chiari Malformation so I may need surgery and I also need a scoliosis scan. She is very petite and takes growth hormones. She has a toe without a nail and she couldn't walk till she was three and I was cerbally delayed. They want to get her genetic testing, but even though Scared Heart Pensacola has the only peds specialists in the whole region, testing would be out of state.

I want to do genetics testing for my boys. They were both born with different birth defects but both were chisisās. Our oldest was born with Gastroschisis, our youngest was born with Palatoachisis. Meaning my oldest had a hole in abdomen and my youngest had a hole in his palate. Both are otherwise healthy now aside from some minor complications but I want them to be prepared for what could happen if and when they decide to have children in the future. Since it is genetic, they can pass it to their children. Thankfully we still have a while before they think about having children due to their ages but Iād rather be safe than sorry. My oldest is 12, and youngest will be 9 in March.

Our daughter has 2q23.1 microdeletion. We belong to a Facebook group ran by families and itās been the biggest help because thereās no studies or name for it. Also, check with where you had the genetics done because some hold the same for like 10 years and will run it again as many times as the doctor wants (at no additional charge) during that time. Genetic testing improves dramatically in a matter of months so our dr has them ran every few months just to ensure weāre not missing something.

Weāre definitely getting closer to understanding what makes our kids ādifferentā (& I donāt mean that in a negative way). Thereās definitely something genetic at play & the more we better understand, the more we can help them. Thank you for sharing this information with us!
