first time i went to my brothers boxing club and tried to watch him train , i got tennisballs trown at my head nonstop by everybody there and when i complained they trew the balls harder and threathend me with their fist while laughing and throwing more stuff at me.
I was only around 10years old getting bullied by people that where over 18years old... and the owner did nothing.
My brother tried to help me but they all turned on him.
Thats the day i decided to never go to a boxing gym ever again, to many testostorone tony montana gangster wannabes that ruin your life.
I hope thats a rare thing in other countrys

The problem with relying on the government to keep your boxing clubs open is that the government is ultimately self serving and doesn't give a rip about your clubs or your kids. The government cannot be relied upon. So it's your fault for relying upon it.

1000% true. I joined as a kid in the eighties, and when you walked through those doors, it went from the outside world to an instant no-BS zone. It was all about the work, and if you worked hard enough and were extremely lucky, you were actually scheduled for a bout on the Friday night show. To call walking through those ropes exhilarating would be a huge understatement. I eventually aged out and never pursued it further because life (early kids) got in the way.
