I got a card from a store I shop at regularly, they sell everything from housewares, to car parts, to decor and even a garden center. They also have a gas station and a chain of several other stores including my favorite shoe and clothing store. I load the offers each week in case I need something and all other purchases including Netflix etc earn me "money" I can spend at these stores. Since fall with their offers and don't much of my shipping for Christmas there, I've had over 150 dollars to spend in their stores (or on gas). I did get into a little debt helping family but I'd rather have some debt than my parents struggling! 🤷♀️ It will take me about 4 months to pay off in full

Great points! However, I like to use cash at small local shops because the monthly fee they pay for having a credit card is crazy. Also, I do most of these same things. We have probably earned between $7K and $10K in the last few years towards travel and other bonuses. BUT they do say you spend more money (I forget the percentage) if you spend with credit cards versus cash. I think it would be a fun experiment to do but my husband is going to buy regardless so I just keep using credit cards. :)

I agree with some of the convenience factors of using credit cards, but you’re also indirectly paying for it, since every vendor needs to charge more for their services to make up for CC fees. Think of a world where CCs don’t siphon money out of each transaction. Things would generally be cheaper. (Oh and even cash users are dinged, because it’s not like they get a better price for using cash. But a law recently came through in Canada that allows vendors to charge extra for cc payments. I don’t know the details though.)
