You can get a similar tonality with the long out of production Lexicon Vortex rackmount effector.

In the past i owned the T-rex Replica, TC Nova delay, Guyatone MD3, Boss DD2, TC Vintage delay, Eventide Timefactor, Strymon Timeline, Strymon Volante. But then i bought a UD Stomp 6 years ago for 350€ and it never left my pedalboard. I use an old Japanese MS Windows patch editor (rarer then the pedal itself) and it's just so easy to program via a MIDI to USB cable. It is literally the closest delay to my rackmount Korg DL8000R (best delay ever built IMHO). The only downside is the mono only input of this pedal, but this is easily managable. Another silly thing is the fancy tap tempo that is basically unusable. Luckily my drummer uses a "click" and i just need to save patches with the exact bmp for each song.

When you see his live rig and pictures of him in the studio — there are no UD Stomp units but myriads of Magicstomp pedals everywhere. I used to own a UD Stomp but sold it. Now I own 2 Magicstomp pedals.

Odd as it may seem, after Holdsworth helped Yamaha design this wonderful pedal — he didn’t really use it that much. He opted instead for using the Yamaha Magicstomp pedal set up in chains of like 3 or 4 for his clean chorused tone and 3 or 4 more for his distinctive lead tones.

You could take the audio from this short video, loop it, and make something pretty darn cool.

What happened to my earlier, lengthy and informative comment about history of the UD Stomp?
