As someone who’s in the legal field. Police harassment is real. They do this type of shit if you try to take action against the wrong they do and then basically bully you into some sort of settlement (basically taking your right away to sue or pursue legal action for the issue) or have you completely take your complaint back. So many complaints against NYPD officers get dropped because of the harassment and fear victims/complainants face.

We used to live in a rough section of town. We were stopped about once a week for stupid stuff...usually because they thought "our car was too loud." When they scan your plates they get your address and if it's in a bad section of town they're more likely to pull you over. The only ticket I got was because because I was doing 60 in a 55. Once we moved into a better neighborhood we stopped getting pulled over

I live in a 95% white town (Super small, it’s actually considered a village) and one time a guy was delivering and installing a treadmill for us, he was Hispanic and had dark skin, a cop followed him all the way to our house and only drove off when my mom opened the door. My mom felt so awful that she gave him a really generous tip.

My dad got discriminated a lot in the 1980s and he lived in New York. There was this one time where he was at a club he had just taken one drink was dancing around and then there was someone who wanted to get in, so they decided to try to kick him out even if he had paid so he declared his rights as an American citizen but they kicked them out by force. After that he was still arguing with them and somehow the conversation got really heated and my father ended up getting beat with walkie talkies and kicked into the back of the car. After that they put him in the hospital and falsely accused him of being under the influence and had caused lots of trouble, that is now a permanent scar in his record. He said that the scariest thing was that he was on the verge of dying and every single time that he would wake up he would faint again, the saddest thing was that his mom really thought he was under the influence even though he wasn't. There was another time where he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. So he was walking by the parking lot and for some reason a police officer just assumed my dad was a robber from a robbery that had just taken place. He got punched before he even said anything and got pinned against the wall. My father told him that he was innocent and if it wasn't that there was another police officer that had told the other guy to leave him be my dad would probably not be here. The officer told him that if by the time he came back my dad was still here he would definitely take him in. My father's eye was badly hurt and he was just beat up in terrible ways
(My dad has experienced lots of bad and terrible things just because we are a minority. These things mostly happen during the 1980s 1990s he says that what we have now is less than 1/4 of what it was when he was young. But sadly it still happens😢

This is real, my mom was harassed once when she was 21, she was once pulled over by a cop cuz it was late and she was driving (She didn’t have a license cuz she’s Mexican) and my Dad was on the copilot seat cuz he drank some alcohol. So once she was pulled over the cop asked her some questions, my mom couldn’t explain that well cuz she didn’t speak English, so Ig the cop got desperate or som and saw me and my brother out of our safe car sits, and he threatened my parents of taking us away from them, specially cuz they were Mexicans. My brother started crying and Ig the cop felt kinda bad, so He told my parents that he was only gonna give them a warning. Then he said that he was gonna also follow us home, just to make sure if it was truth that our house was close to where we were heading. What he didn’t mention was that he was gonna park aside our house and stalk my mom just to “make sure” that my mom didn’t drive. Luckily my mom didn’t had to drive us to school cuz it was really close, so she could walk us over there. But the cop stalked my mom for a while, He was always outside. Until one day, He got into an accident with another car that was going really fast on our street (My street is known for lots of accidents, specially the one aside my house) and my mom said that he never saw him after that day. But this type of acts from some cops are real, and I hope this type of stuff from them stop, cuz it ain’t pretty at all.

That was a scare tactic that they like to use to threaten and/or bully people.
