I churn and maybe get rid of 5% before I panic. It’s something about having space around me, I can’t let go of those walls and am slowly adapting to having less.

That's a great way to start decluttering. I know "churning the hoard" very well. You go through things, make piles, and fill boxes. You feel like you have really accomplished something, but all you have done is move things around. Nothing has left the house. Then, the piles and boxes sit there for months because you can't decide what to do with them.
