The more important thing here that people make a mistake with is the fact that when you join the prayer, make sure you do the takbeer and raise your hands properly then join the prayer.
Many people just quickly rush that bit and join the ruku because they don't want to miss that rakat and then not have to make it up after the imam has finished. If the hands are not raised adequately at the beginning, forget about catching the rakat - you have not even started your prayer yet! Don't rush to the prayer - start it properly.

I used to recite fatixah as fast as I could for a long time, I found out recently like 3 years ago that you don't have to. May Allah guide us all and correct our mistakes.

Sheikh, Prophet said “no prayer without Fatihah .” So one can join imam but he will not count it as Rakat . After Imam’s Salam , late comer will standup for the Rakat he missed or missed Fatiha in it . N complete his prayer n do 2 sajood then Salam on left right side means Sujadah Sahv(سجدہ سہو)n Salam . If forget n does Salam , he can do sujadah Sahv n Salam after prayer .. واللہ اعلم۔ Jazaka Allah khair

And that's the reason why imam abu Hanifa said that reciting behind imam is no allowed because if it was a fardh of a salah then there's no way you could leave a fardh or waajib of the salah but you can go to ruku without reading fatiha that's why

According to hanafi madhab we do mot have to recite fatiha behind the imam

Better if we pray that RAKAH again coz joining in ruku doesn't complete that RAKAH... I heard there is a Hadith, never read by myself.
