You don't need to reload anymore when you see a max Ammo, but when you see a Full Power, you might as well use your Ability before picking it up. So the tradition still lives on spiritually, just in a another power-up.

It was a change on WW2 in 2017 but was forgotten
Where it actually became popular and was kept as the new standard was in BO4.WW2 was a massive flop for zombies as the spirit and soul was gone, so very little of the player base even played it to begin with that it was overlooked.
But thanks to 3arc handling zombies in 2018 for BO4,the changes were noticed and popularized.

It’s pretty much the same in Cold War for the max reload it puts all weapons your carrying to their maximum ammo capacity which is handy if your dealing with a lot of zombies lol
