The relationship between diet and mental health, including anxiety, is continuing to get more research. While diet alone might not be the sole cause or solution for anxiety disorders, there is evidence to suggest that certain dietary patterns and nutrients can play a role in influencing anxiety levels. Here are some ways in which diet can impact anxiety: nutrient intake, gut-brain axis, blood sugar regulation, inflammation, food sensitivities, etc.
We recommend a whole food diet to our patients. A diet that includes a lot of meat, eggs (if you’re not sensitive), fruit, and vegetables. We want to eliminate as many processed foods and gluten-containing foods as possible. Your best bet is to stay away from foods that have a long shelf life and eat real foods that are grown from nature.
