I think you may have found one of what Harper called âOld Stock Canadianâ I believe was the racist term he chose. (Harper did not mean First nations, afterall when native youth walked across Canada in the march of the Nishiu, he ignored them entirely for a photo op with pandas. He was flirting with Canadianized âreplacement theoryâ, like more and more right wing racists do.)
It is where I first started seeing folks boasting and feeling entitled as âoriginalâ Candians without being Aboriginal, ironically labelling and projecting the image of new Canadians (immigrants) as invaders. It makes me bleed from the soul each time I watch my countryfolk echo American-style talking points and racism.
I suppose, in short, I am saying this fella may be a lost cause, more likely to repeat talking points than ponder them deeply from any perspective but their own.

Steve, I've been engaging Trump and Poilievre supporters (latter has SLIGHTLY better spelling skills) and I've learned a lot.
It seems that for the ones where there's really no reasoning with them, the appeal of these candidates is the "anti-woke" message.
This is the push back on anything that they see as undermining the privilege that they feel they have a birthright to.
If you ask them about why they support who they support, you will get words about the economy or this policy or that policy, but they'll volunteer paragraphs about how woke-ism is a threat to everything that they hold dear.
All the rational arguments in the world won't sway them - they don't want to hear it and they don't want to know.
The only thing that might work is to make them more afraid of the right wing nut-bars than they are of the left wing woke-ists.
May the best fear-monger win!

The people who believe in âmight is rightâ are terrified that everyone else also believes in it.
