Weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you?

My guess is bikes tend to be stolen in Japan, so the speeding could be an excuse. As you don't look Japanese, they thought you could be 'harassed' a little more than a Japanese citizen.

Here in quebec, there is a conflict of english vs french (this branched off from the ancestrial wars in europe). I have been profiled before by the citizens. The police will sometimes profile cars when they are from another provence (this also happens yo the quebecois when they are out of quebec... for the same reason!) You experiances reminds me of that.

Speeding on a bike is a thing in The States too. 😅 I never got a ticket, but it's known among commuters. Check your local bike laws to avoid surprises, y'all! 🚴

I watched a guy get pulled over and arrested in a motorized wheelchair. He was very drunk and driving in the middle of the road. So, understandable.

In Australia we have school zones, 40kph in the mornings and afternoons near schools. I watched a guy get a ticket going downhill on his bike on a road where I've hit 52kph going down. Glad I have a Wahoo now.

I got pulled over in 1985 by the cops in Santa Rosa, California, who threatened to arrest me for drunk driving on a bicycle. It's actually a crime! GTFO!

This hasn't happened to me, however I am from Kingston Ontario and there bicycles (minus the registration and license plate) are treated like vehicles and are bound to the actual rules/laws of the road.

I don't know Norm🤔 I grew up in a coastal California town where you could bike everywhere so I lived on my one speed cruiser and I could sometimes be seen burning rubber on that old Schwinn...😅

I had an officer jump out of a bush to stop me on my electric skateboard once. that was an experience.

They do that over here in Florida in College towns too. They will literally write you a ticket for going 1 over 20. Luckily this hasn’t happened to me, but I saw it happen in front of my eyes lol. Bicycles are still technically vehicles in the eyes of the law, they just don’t need a plate.

In the states you can get ticketed for speed on a bicycle in my experience though the coos won't. A town I lived in as a teenager had a speed trap thing at the bottom of a hill and me and my friends wanted to see who can go faster we broke the speed limited by 3mph and asked the cop sitting there would he ticket us? He looked at us it was like no it's not even worth the time.

Mamachan? Is it called that because I've seen some mothers use it to run errands and they have a baby seat strapped at the back.

Might not be the weirdest thing, but I have a tendency to be asked directions... in places or countries where I don't live. Weirdly enough, most of the time I know where it is because I've either passed it or looked it up before.

More than once, I incensed an old man while riding on my mamachari that they were audacious enough to step into the path of my oncoming bike. This only happened at a particular tunnel that you weren’t supposed to ride in (but everyone rode in). The lectures were not appreciated. 🙄 It was definitely because I was being a naughty girl because none of my male coworkers ever got scolded.

Or maybe it’s the punk show where they threw vegetables and ramen at us and the lead singer stripped himself naked out of his mankini and leapt off the stage to roll around on the floor covering himself in Bull Dog sauce and noodles.

Or maybe it’s when I was walking by myself at night and a man full on stopped his car beside me, turned it off, and got out to ask me if he could be my friend and tried to get me into his car. When I didn’t comply, he tried to get me to hug him

OMG, I'm sorry Norm, but I gotta say, it's also pretty funny. It so random. And you have to register bicycles over there? Wow.

Was driving 25mph over the limit and the officer let me go cause my class a license meant I would be fined double and it was 2am so it was as a risk to drives that fast.

Not weird per se, but interesting. I have a tendency of traveling hundreds to thousands of miles from home and I meet people who live a block or two away from me at home.
