By dashing down-left in the correct position, you can perfectly align yourself to avoid the lava and get to the other side without relying on your teammates to throw you. The only purpose I've found this glitch to serve is to get an item before someone else, but that's about it: The moving stone statue, which is used to cross the lava, is necessary for pressing the 4th switch at the top of the room to continue the level anyway.
I probably won't be able to upload very many until next weekend because campus internet isn't very good for my recording setup.
