Very nice. Every physical vocal instrument (person) can’t replicate or reproduce every other instrument (person). Imagine a cello trying to sound like a violin. You can reproduce the notes, but the tambre, the resonances are simply different. Ken does a wonderful job here. As a voice instructor his job, as is mine, is to give the artist as many tools as possible to stretch his/her range, and resonances as possible within that physical body’s ‘God-given limits’ if you will. To remove artificial limitations is the goal, not to make ‘Bob sound like Mike’.
That’s what makes a great cover of a song. *Their song, your way*.
“Does Ken sound like the record?” is NOT the goal. The goal is this.
Does Ken sound great? Does Ken *move you*? That’s my goal as a teacher. From all of Ken’s teaching work I’ve seen, that’s his goal as well. I think all singers would benefit from working towards this in their careers.
