From my personal arachnophobia experience, it's not about the venom. It's about them touching you. I've worked hard against the phobia and even had a wonderful pet spider, but some spiders still trigger that panic response. It's frustrating because I know they're beneficial, fascinating and most of them are gentle introverts.

I am a spider lover, but it wasn't always that way!
Years back, if I saw a spider I would freak out and kill it, or make my husband kill it. 👀
It's sad, because they are really so misunderstood.
Being someone who loves nature and the outdoors, I've encountered many.
I don't know when it happened, but one day several years ago I saw one that I thought was interesting. I took a picture of it, looked it up and learned about it. I also found a friend who loved spiders and taught me a lot.
I learned that they are a very important part of the ecosystem and very beneficial for the environment. I also learned that they are scared of us and are not out to get us, and that the small amount of venom they carry is used to capture bugs, not people. Most can't penetrate our skin, even if they wanted to. Where I live, the spiders are quite harmless and have actually become my friends. The only true venomous spider we have in Pennsylvania is the black widow, and I've only encountered two of them in my 62 years of life. Even the black widows are not out to get you, they just want to be left alone.
Because I took the time to learn about and understand spiders, I have become a spider advocate and rescuer! Most are shy, gentle creatures and are just trying to catch bugs
and keep our environment clean.
SO, PLEASE GIVE SPIDERS A CHANCE!
Thanks for this great video, I hope it makes people think twice about our eight-legged friends. 🕷

While I try not to kill them, I do not like spiders, and don't want them any where near me. I've been bitten, and I'm not deathly allergic, I just cringe at the thought of being bitten by a spider. Had one, more than likely a wolf spider, on my pillow one night while I was sleeping, and I probably moved and it bit my eyebrow in self-defense. I was more angry that it was on MY pillow than anything. Anyone who likes them, more power to you. But, anything that wakes me up when I'm having nightmares about them, like my ex-wife, I hate it.
