The only issue is where do you get 10% guarantee on your investment?

I think people will be more shocked if you ask if they want and iPhone or $18000 dollars. That sounds like alot more than 2500 cups of coffee.

Instead of 2500 $7coffees, make your own at home for less than 50 cents. Invest the money saved on coffee and buy the phone. 😊

How can you not factor in the inflation of coffee as well? If you are waiting 30 years for your investment to grow, you should factor in how much the price of coffee would be in 30 years.

The average person spends so much time on a phone that i think its worth to invest much into it. Even if you don’t have much screen time for social media consumption you still carry it with you the whole day for messaging, navigation, paying, taking notes, writing emails, taking pictures and so on. Of course cheap phones do the job as well, but usually they dont get updates as long whats a potential risk especially for your sensitive and private data. On top the build quality, camera or battery isnt that great. So the best in my opinion is to invest in a this or last-year secondhand flagship.
But buying every year a brand new phone obviously doesnt make any sense. Especially nowadays when the innovations are not that huge anymore.

The real problem is that we keep calling them phones, they are computers, phones, cameras, walkmans (😂),GPS…..And I keep mine 4-6 years. Although you have convinced me that coffee drinkers need to stop and invest all that money they spend on their drinks

I understand the math but what is the relevance to use 30 years as a maturity date? Shouldn't it rather be 2 years.

I don’t like coffee, so the phone, haha! We also keep our phones for probably way too long…we don’t replace them until they stop getting updates!

I’ve had 4 iPhones over 13 years, with one being upgraded purely because its predecessor failed. So, more or less a new phone every 3 years.

Thing is, paying it monthly almost makes you forget the true cost. I could be investing a further £47 a more a month in my pension, or in stocks for my future.

We’ve become too fixated on instant gratification, rather than thinking long term.

(I’ve stopped my daily Costa coffee though 😊

Buy the phone and spend your money. Tomorrow is not promised. I known a middle aged man that passed, he said his biggest regret was not buying and doing the things he loved. He kept saving his money and living too frugally.

And how would you get 10% return per year in the US?

@fennsk

But I'd have to wait 30 years for all the coffee.

I bought mine for 150 from someone who was upgrading to the latest and greatest model. I probably get a new one every couple of years so it's $75 per year instead of $500, and it's still a really nice phone. Take advantage of your friends who are stupid with their money 😅
