They want to sell through all their disc inventory so they can send out the new model. Inventory space cost money, sell your existing and replace it, no inventory costs.

I know people who got the slim version for $449.99 too. So 😅; I think it’s posturing to move stock and to make sure people remain friendly goodwill when a PS5 Pro drops, the pricing structure for the Original and PS5 Slim still feels good to consumers and not buyer’s remorse. Sony runs real risk of brand damage for buyer’s remorse

nothing wrong with a slim or pro model. So long as the pro model doesn't make it problematic like the series s and x and how drastic the spec differences r to the point where it hinders devs then it's good
