As a Christian of 33 yrs in the past and a victim of child abuse, I learned the Bible unbiased and read it myself (in short, no one teached me about it but I just had to read and understand it myself til i grew up). It was very simple to understand to me, except the church when I go there or attend the Sunday mass, they had a lot of stuffs not mentioned in the Bible. I've always followed what I read on the Bible, and never once prayed to Jesus pbuh because what he said in the Bible is very clear -- there's one God above with whom, including Jesus, the prophets and righteous people worshipped.
Fast forward 33yrs after, Allah guided me to a close friend who reverted to Islam, and she told me what Islam is in a nutshell. I read the Qur'an thereafter and realized that my beliefs were all this time Islam.
It only took me to know more about prophet Muhammad pbuh to accept Islam, which I hate a sure lot in the past. I only read 80% of that Qur'an then I reverted. Now I've read it several times already, and plan to read it for so long I can still read -- just like how I read the Bible -- daily and consistent.
