I've always been convinced that all languages can serve the purpose of connecting people. I recently read an interesting quote about this subject. It stated that it seemed that the Lakota/Dakota language was honed to a very spiritual degree down through time because of the people's closeness to nature and ceremony. That Wakan Tanka for example had a much deeper and fuller resonance than one of the English translations like Great Spirit of Great Mystery. The author believed that as time goes by and people continue to travel, communicate and connect with each other, people would use English as a common language worldwide but that the richness of the Lakota/Dakota language, especially the singing of beseechment songs, will continue to spread because they add so much to a ceremony and therefore even could become the spiritual language of the world.

I am really curious about this topic of language and experience. Iktomi seems to be very inside his tricks… nothing objective about him…so I guess his moving language just got him in trouble deeper faster.
