Imagine that on late nights, when both the 2 and the A run local.

64 miles round trip on the A train. Wow!

If you're looking at geographical distance, I'm pretty sure the furthest you could go would be Far Rockaway to Van Cortlandt - 242nd St.

You can go from Tottenville, Staten Island, to Wakefield on a single transfer, because the SI ferry is free.

This reminds me of my commute for work EVERYDAY

People forget that SIR is part of the MTA, so the farthest distance with transfer would actually be Wakefield-241st in The Bronx to Tottenville in Staten Island.

Okie doki Loki. Now you have to try to do what you promised. Doing a “Miles in transit” esque like video. Technically, it’s actually from Far Rockway- Mott in West Queens, to inwood, NY, & to S Ferr. To then get on the ferry to Richmond, & the SIR to Tottenville, Richmond. It’s still a transfer & free. All for $0.90 if this was ’85. Instead, it’s $2.90.

I most likely am going to have to do something similar next Sunday. I need to travel from Beach 67th street to Eastchester-Dyre Av. If I do, I’ll look to remember to time the trip.

The trip from Wakefield to Far Rockaway is a long stretch, especially if the A runs local

Far Rockaway to Washington Heights, then transfer to the C to Euclid Avenue.

Fun Fact: The <C> ran from Bedford Park Blvd - Rockaway Park back in the late 1970s - Early 1990s when the Redbirds Retired

A transfer is limited to 2 hours if not using a limited weekly, or monthly MetroCard or an express bus MetroCard.

Staten Island Rail Road: what am I chopped liver?

I thought it would be the #6 line.

But the answer is the "E" to 179th Street.

The "E" had the history as having the longest mileage. And it was the first line to Far Rockaway. Than it was given to the "A".

The "E" was Express Everywhere! Than it was given to the "A". Eventually cut back to WTC becoming a Manhattan local.

As for the #2, you are guaranteed to stop everywhere except when it hits the upper Westside.

It is more local than it is Express. While the reverse is true for the A/E. Both of these lines are more express than local. Because at night, the "E" is still Express in Queens, when the "A" makes all 60 stops!

Here's another trivia for you.

The "A" goes the furthest West and East of any Line.

Sorry #1 😂

I had a feeling it was Wakefield to Far Rockaway. But, y'know, putting it on a map makes the routing via Manhattan look like a detour.

A similar trip via Q114 and Q44… how would it compare? 🤔

IN THE 80'S THE C TRAIN WAS THE LONGEST FROM BRONX ALL THE WAY TO FAR ROCKAWAY.

does the MTA or NYCT run some sort of API that would allow for fast lookup of exact station-to-station distances on the same line?
