I used to volunteer at a charity shop years ago. A lot of the stuff that got send to the global south are things people didn't want e.g. soiled cloths and cloths that stank of smoke. We shouldn't be sending our literal rubbish to these countries but charities get money for doing so!

Also another note on the whole resell point, the shop i worked out was in a poor town and whenever something nice came through for donations, it was sent to a wealthier area to be sold at a higher price. I understand the charity needs money but it means lower income people still miss out on higher quality products, all for profit.

I worked at an actual charity store (one lady who just needed to fill her time and didn't care about the money) and even after we said "we aren't taking clothes anyone, the store is full, the warehouse is full, we can't give this stuff away" people would still throw bags of stuff at the door and drive away

Those charity stores seem more criminal than charity, I did not know that. Nicely covered Katie, take care.
