Yes, yes and 1000 times yes.
I'm an immigrant too (not Ireland), first: knowing the language is imperative and you'll learn it quickly when you talk to the locals.
Second: start lightly to fit in, observe the locals and learn about the culture of the country you are in.
Third: you will meet people who don't like you because you are not like them, but don't let that get you down. For every ahole you will meet ten wonderful people. Aholes are minority.
It is not easy to start new somwhere else, it takes time and effort and it will pay off.

As a migrant, I totally agree. If I choose to move to Ireland and call it my home, makes sense to me to blend in, learn about the culture, traditions, history, and be respectful with all of that. It doesn't mean I can't keep my own traditions and likes, but not creating a silo.
