林爽文事件時，庄大田破鳯山舊縣城，當時是土城，也因如此鳯山縣衙遷往現今的鳯山區（新城），直到道光年間，舊城才重新蓋回來（石城），但鳯山縣衙卻沒有回到舊城來。所以看到的殘跡，應是道光年間的城。
