⭐️4 words with a TON of communication functions ‼️

Hey, I'm Laura. I share about sign language and how it can be a game changer for your baby / toddler's early communication skills. Caley and I have teamed up this week to dive in to highly functional communication.

When you target these words and signs, you’re helping your little one move towards being able to independently:

💥request assistance/attention (help!)
💥direct (go)
💥request an action (go)
💥terminate (stop)
💥protest (stop)
💥request more of an item (more)
💥request more of an action or activity (more)

Look at all the purpose behind just 4 words!

And the best part is- you can target these during snack time, play time, in the bath, while in the car, while brushing teeth, etc.

The key is to making these words as concrete as possible. Pair the sign with a parentese speaking voice (sing songy pitch with exaggerated vowels and a slower rate) when introducing them. Repeat several times and be sure to ✨pause✨ to give them a chance to attempt the sign or word. If you want to provide a hands-on prompt for the sign, a light nudge at the elbow is preferred vs hand over hand.
