I see it this way: Odysseus didn't even try to came up with a plan to face a monster he knew they would come across, literally nothing, and betrayed the crew by sacrificing them for his egotistical goals, he simply didn't cared for them anymore, pawns to discard.
So, either he make a plan that could or could not work, but everyone is on it, or he tell them the truth, and if they all agree to face it, either some volunteers or they draw sort to see who get eaten, Odysseus and Eurylochus as well. Not both though, can't have the captain and vive die at the same time, so if they both got sorted, one would have to live by chance.

I feel like this is pretty much all of Ody's plans go:
Scene: 9 years into the Trojan War. Eurylochus, Polities, and Ody are in a tent.
Eury: Every time we start getting an edge, they retreat behind the walls. We can't sack the city with defenses like this... nothing is working!
Ody: We need a horse.
Polities: nods Obviously.
Eury: What?
Ody: We need to build a giant wooden horse and hide inside of it. We make it look like we've sailed away and leave this giant horse outside the gates. They'll bring it in, and when they're asleep, we jump out and sack the city.
Eury: What?
Ody: nods yeah...They'll never see it coming. It's foolproof
Eury: That's the most ridiculous...how would we even make something that big? Why would Hector take a huge random horse inside?
Polities: I'd take a huge random horse inside.
Ody: See? He gets it!
Eury: There's no possible way that will work.
Ody: Do you have a better idea?

Nice little detail of still keeping the bl00d on him. really makes me think that none of the crew washed it off the ship after the Scylla encounter. Means that he's either too tired or just doesn't want to wipe the bl00d off him. Either one.

Remember, right before they go into the cave, Eurylochus tells Ody that HE was the one who opened the wind bag! The entire reason they are still on the ocean is because he betrayed his captain.

Its kanna unfair bc they didnt knew oddy's plan before they got killed as sacrifise.
They dosent have chance to give alternative. or even choose who to be secrifised. They Cant even prepare for thier own death bc oddy didnt belive them. They could run better if they knew they are not fighting the monster. Or at least have a chance to leave letter for thier family before they got killed.
Understandable. No one would wanna die. If anyone disobey they might all gonna die. (And they already have reputation for not follow his order.) But hell its still not fair.
