I find the Star Wars community's collective obsession over this ceremony hilarious. Growing up, it never once crossed my mind that Wedge, Chewie, or the Y-Wing pilot didn't get medals. The medals are not the point of the scene.

I know why. Wedge was just doing his Goddamn job as a rebel pilot. He was true air ace. He knew the struggle. He was an old timer. Luke, Han and the chums were all āembroiledā in the struggle as pretty much outsiders until they all randomly came to help and saved the day themselves. Thatās medal worthy for innocent bystanders getting involved.

I always assumed the ceremony continued after what we saw or was on going. In Harry Potter we don't see every pupil get sorted into their houses and we don't need to. Same with this.
