Removing axles to replace studs with longer ones to pass AHRA Tech. I have 1/2" diameter studs so at least 1/2" of **threaded* stud shall protrude from the surface of the rim. When adding aftermarket aluminum rims they are 1/2" to 3/4" thick at the holes while the stock steel rims are not even 1/4" thick. I had the 1/2", but the last 1/4" was not threaded so I am spending $150 to solve the 1/4" shortcoming. Well it's probably too late now. But I don't take the axles out to knock the studs out. All I do is rotate the axle and Hammer πŸ”¨ simply put nuts on the end of them. By the way you can still get lug nuts at Mom and Pop trailer sales for about 50 to 75 cents a piece. I use a big holes in the end of the axle flange to retrieve the stud. Can I rotate it and knocked the next one out so not to injure anything behind it. I'm assuming the axles you have are the same as all the ones I know of. They have the ridges on the shoulder and that locks them into the axle flange. Which of course all I do is put a few washers between it and a lug nut turn backwards to pull them through. I'm glad to see you're making forward progress on both the car and your number of subs
