The IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, published annually by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, evaluates countries based on economic performance and competitiveness. It considers factors such as:
Economic Performance: macroeconomic performance of the country.
Government Efficiency: the extent to which government policies support competitiveness.
Business Efficiency: the quality of the business environment and infrastructure.
Infrastructure: Quality and availability of infrastructure, including technological and scientific infrastructure.
This ranking is a key resource for policymakers, businesses, and academics to understand and enhance the competitiveness of economies.
š Portugal has shown significant improvement across all key indicators:
Infrastructure: improved from 32nd to 26th.
Economic Performance: rose from 42nd to 39th.
Business Efficiency: climbed from 41st to 39th.
Government Efficiency: up from 43rd to 41st.

Education: 21st place
Technological Infrastructures: 24th place
Health and the Environment, Scientific Framework, Business Legislation, International Trade: 25th place
This progress was noted in the IMD's survey of 6,612 executives and analysis of 164 statistical indicators from March to May 2024, covering 67 economies.
