As a native Hawaiian we do have grounded core values as well as respect for the land, sea, and people.
However, there are still plenty of exceptions and outliers. Hawaiāi is not just a place where only sunshine, rainbows, happy people, and good surf exist.
We have evil, the depraved, the corrupt, and the prideful. I count ourselves among those who are fortunate to learn the art of humility and respect throughout our upbringing.
However there is a common misconception that that is what we all are 24/7. No human is exempt from an ill nature.

I was born and raised in Hawaii and during my late teen years wanted to move out to the mainland so I did. But in doing so it made me realize that I didnāt appreciate life in Hawaii as much as I shouldāve. After almost half a year I get enough money to move back home and Iām here to stay. I enjoy it very much here and love the communities around me

I'm in Maui now. First time here. Been here for a week and leaving tomorrow. The most beautiful place I've ever seen. Road to Hana is paradise. HOWEVER, these natives work for shit wages while homes in their neighborhoods are completely out of reach with shit houses being $1M +, sometimes forcing them to move to the states. I believe if I were a native, I wouldn't be too happy with visitors who have taken over their homes.

Being a native Hawaiian from Nanakuli, it really hurts me to see how many foreigners claim our home as theirs and how many foreigners are so comfortable to talk for us but yet you are not our neighbors and we do not see each other in day-to-day life. We welcome 1 million tourist every single month even during the Covid pandemic. Soon the Hawaii we know and love will be a representation of a culture that has been pushed out of its own home. Aloha š¤š½šÆ

I am not Hawaiian at all and I have no Hawaiian ancestors but I was born and raised on the big island of Hawaii and I can say this is true. This island is very beautiful and I don't really say beautiful that very often at all.
There is one thing though that I know because I can see it every single day, this island is slowly changing but not for the good, it is slowly changing for the worst.
