I grew up in Florida and live here again now. I can definitively say I have never seen a Key Lime Pie that looked anything like this at all. It may be good, but that is not an example of that pie.

Not a keylime pie at all. It may be a pie and one of the ingredients may even be keylime but itās not what anyone in florida would recognize as keylime pie. Imagine it like someone selling you a mince pie but when you get it, itās a cheesecake with mincemeat bits sprinkled on it. Thatās kinda whatās happening here.

So in the full video David (the baker) specifies that it's Mississippi's (another southern US state - KLP is usually associated with Florida) version of key lime pie; the filling and frosting includes a LOT of sweetened condensed milk, mascarpone and cream cheese. So it seems like it's a cross between a classic KLP and a cheesecake KLP, and not quite a full on KLP cheesecake.

Fun fact: if i remember correctly they've tried deep fried key lime pie before at a fair in a previous series, funnily enough. Naturally Ollie (Jolly t-shirt) hated it and Josh loved it. And I can't believe Juno is already 7?????????

Just fyi, guys. Key limes aren't regular Persian limes. Key limes are tiny, about the size of a ping pong ball. It takes lots of them to make this pie. Here in Florida they are extremely popular in the summer time heat.āļøš”

Iāve never seen one that looks like this. Iām no expert at all, but the ones Iāve seen look like theyāve got kind of an egg custard tart kind of texture!
