Back in blaxploitation era, a bunch of studio executives wanted to capitalize on the sucess of Shaft, Coffy, and especially Blacula and make another vampire horror film. But to take on this task they hired an up and coming avantgarde theater director, Bill Gunn. And what resulted was truly one of the strangest vampire films ever, Ganja and Hess.
