According to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2006, 21% of pedestrian fatalities occurred in roadways where a crosswalk was available, but it was not used! 42% of those fatalities were occurred when pedestrians DID use the crosswalk, but they did NOT look both ways before crossing the road (the fu?!)
