Forgiveness isn't for the ones we have to forgive it is for us I used to be so angry at my stepdad and my mom I had to forgive them they worked very hard I have to understand that my step dad was in Vietnam and had PTSD really bad so I'm not going to say what he acted like and how cruel he was to me was deserving but neither was the way my mother treated me growing up there were good times and there were bad times it mostly was As I Grew to That she did horrible things Um on top of that She lied to me my whole life until it was 13 Thinking that my stepdad was my dad my real father died when I was just a few weeks old so cut me so deeply because I couldn't understand why my father hated me for 13 years it really messes with you and those are like formative years I had to Rise Above All That so I understand and I tried to be the best mother I could to my children and still it backfired I ended up being a single parent most of their life and trying to balance between being mother and father because their fathers were worthless so all of that growing up didn't prepare me to be a single parent or a parent whatsoever but I sacrificed whatever I could to give them still wasn't good enough

Yes, the people that we think are our greatest enemies and we think have hurt us the most are our saviors, because they teach us that our only happiness comes from the Holy Spirit (for lack of a better term). When the rich man asked Jesus, "Good teacher, how do I have eternal life?", Jesus said, "Why do you call me good? There is only one who is good." This was the rich man's answer to how to have eternal life. Eternal life is not living a long time. Eternal life is living a timeless life. Eternal life is being in the moment, guided by the Holy Spirit every moment. The people who we think have hurt us the most are our saviors, because they remind us that we can find true happiness only in the only one who is good. This was why Jesus told the rich man to give away his riches. The rich man probably saw Jesus as the person who was trying to hurt him the most. Even his worst enemy had not suggested that.
When we understand this, "forgiveness" becomes an irrelevant term, because when anyone attacks us, we mentally get down on our knees and silently say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you for reminding me that my only true happiness comes from being in the present moment, sharing eternal life with the Holy Spirit." We see them as our saviors, not our enemies. We see them as Jesus telling us to give away whatever we think will make us happy and find true happiness in the eternal present moment with the Holy Spirit.
