Also Goliath was believed to be 7 feet tall. Most people at the time were usually under 5â5 and if they saw anyone bigger they called them giants. Just wanted to through that in there.

The thing about science is that it's not a substace, the existence of witches and ghouls and giants and werewolves doesn't disprove "sciece" because science is a tool, a method to study reality, so it makes sense for a scientist to believe in ghosts because the core fundament of science is curiosity, to a scientist assumtions are held low, and anything we know about the universe is subject to correction and adendum.

Makes sense he would be smart in botany and medicine but not paleontology. The knowledge of fossils were shaky at best during those times, so it would make sense if he mistook a mastadonâs tooth for a biblical giant.
