honestly makes me really wish that they swapped ash out for a new protagonist in every new season of the Pokémon anime, but hey, a late correction is better than no correction at all.

As a Horizons watcher, I endorse this opinion.
PS: Pokétoon, in the japanese Pokémon channel is great, so try watching that as well (the few episodes there is).
Stopped watching the ashanime around Gen3 btw, so I was really waiting for the opportunity to watch Pokémon again, and I'm glad it finally came.

And im not disappointed
The story and character itself is a very fresh start since ash's era is already over from pokemon 2019( Journeys). You dont need to watch the previous series to understand horizon, Its completely new
On top of that, The chemistry between friends and rival is pretty balanced on liko, roy and dot
Also hear the opening on JP ver. They never miss especially opening 2

Ash should have won the kanto or Johto league and left.but instead the kept him around for WAAAAY to long.him being there hurt the anime and it’s sad

I really appreciate that it's a story with a purely original cast of heroes and villains that takes place across the entire Pokémon world that isn't about being the very best like no one ever was, as opposed to Ash following a loose interpretation of the games' storylines.
I know Journeys broke the mold, but Ash's goal was still becoming number 1, so... Yeah. Horizons actually has me invested in its story.
