Yo i've got stanley snips like that, but they're 'stubby' the cutting edges/jaws are shorter, they're unreal, more general cutters, not specifically tin, take to my grave favorites.

I recently picked up three of these and totally agree with you, they are packaged like Fort Knox. It took me several minutes with a utility knife carefully cutting the small space around the battery to get it out, and I was cussing Milwaukee for this insane packaging the whole way.
