Questions:

1. We don’t stay in heaven. It’s a pass through to the New World. Does this change the calculus on this?

2. What I personally find unsettling about the limited information we have on the nature of this is that woman is the only creation TAKEN from another creation- expressly to be the helpmeet of that creation. This did not happen after the fall, but before- when man and woman were perfect.

This means it is not a condition created by our sin, but that man and woman needed each other in marriage even in their perfection AND perfect communion with God.

And if the New Earth is a restoration of the garden, would that also lead us to conclude that while we have SOME information about the state of this relationship in heaven, what is beyond that is not spoken to.

I am not as interested in the physical act of marriage- as it is only a secondary consideration to the fact we just don’t have a complete picture as to the nature of how this relationship will go forth.

I do believe that God has the freedom to define anything he chooses in this matter. And that whatever his decrees are in heaven will only bring joy and our greatest satisfaction and blessings.

But taking all of the available information on this in scripture- while we can speak to heaven, I think it is reasonable to say- we don’t know what this looks like beyond. But we can trust God it will be awesome.
