As a singer myself, i been singing in seclusion for decades. I've always been TERRIFIED of singing in front of ppl unless ive known them damn near my whole life like my best friend. Not even my Fiance of 14 years has never heard me sing to my full potential til few months ago and she was in tears, then she got mad and we had a huge fight because she felt that i hid it from her and that it took her 14 years to find out how well i can sing. My fear is extreme, hitting high notes isnt an issue, i can hit pretty high notes with ease, BUT i will say that my ENTIRE life i've always mimicked sound effects of random things and objects and whatnot, so when i started really getting into practicing singing, i instinctively mimicked the artists style and way they sang, this has given me MUCH experience in VARIOUS different styles of singing and different genres and what does and does not work for my natural singing voice. I can sing pretty damn decently when i KNOW that nobody can hear me, but when ppl were within earshot i could not only feel a difference when i sang but i could hear it in my ears as well, i felt and sounded flat and my voice was much less dynamic. I NEVER imagined id be capable of singing in front of anyone, especially putting real effort and letting the nervousness go. i been practicing more and more and i'm losing that self conscience aspect but when i do feel self conscience it completely destroys my singing ability and my singing quality drops by minimum 65% or more, i become flat and monotoned. I just got a whole studio recording set up with a good condenser Mic with the sound guard and voice box over the mic, i also have it connected to a soundcard/mixer but i honestly have no clue what im doing. i just wanna sing and record and if possible mix the music.

Months to years it depends. And even after that you don't know what you'll be capable of. Great advice. Patience. You get out what you put in x Time

I can totally agree with this. I have been singing or almost a year now, and I have improved so much, but of course there is always room to grow :) I work hard with JVA warm ups everyday (or... I try to XD)
