literally! I was so broke when i went to college and was also moving across the state. my rooms were always barebones and cheap stuff off amazon. my freshman roommate was obsessed with matching and didnt want to understand that i couldn’t afford pottery barn. then would make snarky comments about me buying essentials off amazon as if we werent in the middle of nowhere and i didnt have a car🤡

Tfg my Uni had shared bathrooms per every two rooms and we had our own rooms… So we only had to share a bathroom with the one other person beside us.
Whether you get along with your roommate or not, sharing such a small space for the whole school year is super stressful compared to not having to.

my roommate and I went and bought everything from thrift stores and we sewed our own throw pillows from thrifted fabric (mine looked horrible but it was fun).
The table cloth I bought for my desk survived college to become a picnic blanket.

Idk. My freshman roommates didnt know how to look or clean after themselves. I had 4 flat mates in college and 2 of them were snobs that would expect the other 2 to clean up after them. They even had a dog they never walked.
Id rather have these obsessive tidy types than 2 living embodiments of Oscar the Grouch.

Im so glad i didn't have a roommate. I got one of the few single rooms. It was less than half the size as a doube room(explain that to me), but it was amazing having complete control over my space. I waa even able to get an "emotional support" python, completely above board with the school, and she's the best roommate ever! I didn't really have a desk for the second half of the year because her terrarium is so big, but it was fine.
She scared away the bullies and brouht me closer to my actual friends, and my now-boyfriend. Moral of the story: get a snake, i guess.

The boyfriend one is my freshman year roommate except she didn't tell me she just did it when I went home on some weekends and I didn't know until one day I came into the dorm to get something before leaving and there was stuff all over the floor and they were in the shower together 😍😝
