Apart from the obvious format change, there was another key difference in some of the matches, during the first round of Champions league games this season, fans noticed a changed jersey for a few clubs.
While Sporting’s home jersey seemed similar to the one they wear every game, an avid supporter could tell the difference.This change comes as part of UEFA’s infamous jersey rule. The guideline basically states that if a shirt has three or more colors, one must be "clearly dominant"
UEFA stated the original three white stripes on Sporting’s jersey made the color too dominant which prompted Sporting and Nike to adjust. In other Champions League news, several teams including PSV appear to have used an outdated version of the sleeve badge on match day one.
