Taghut ? | طاغوت | Surah An-Nisa verse 76 | Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza @EngineerMuhammadAliMirzaClips @Journeyofemaan44
In the Quran, the term "Taghut" refers to false gods, idols, tyrants, or any entity that is worshipped or obeyed instead of Allah. It symbolizes anything that diverts people from the worship and obedience of the one true God. The Quran addresses the concept of Taghut in various verses, emphasizing the importance of rejecting false deities and following the path of monotheism. Here are a few key verses that mention Taghut:
1. *Surah Al-Baqarah (2:256)*
"There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing."
2. *Surah An-Nisa (4:60)*
"Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghut, while they were commanded to reject it; and Satan wishes to lead them far astray."
3. *Surah An-Nahl (16:36)*
"And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], 'Worship Allah and avoid Taghut.' And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers."
4. *Surah Az-Zumar (39:17)*
"And those who avoided Taghut, lest they worship it, and turned back to Allah - for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants."
These verses underscore the central tenet of Islamic monotheism, which is the rejection of all forms of false deities and the exclusive worship of Allah. Taghut is portrayed as a significant deviation from the right path, and believers are urged to avoid and reject it in all its forms.
