Colossal swords arent slow because of the recovery frames. I dont judge a weapons speed by the start up animation I judge by the recovery speed. Since any weapon can be swung and almost recovered in the same time frame...your weapons speed is more about its length and your range rather than its weight and how much endurance it cost to swing...ex smithscript throwing daggers are under 2lbs however the stamina cost is the same as a collosal weapon...if you threw your dagger at the same time as someone using a colossal sword your recovery and stamina usage would almost be identical. So worry less about the type/speed and more about motion values and recovery frames.
