Students, with parental help, attach 3 marker legs, a vibration subassembly (that I kit ahead of time), & decorations to a tin can or plastic bottle.
When turned on, the robot buzzes & scoots along the floor, leaving colorful trails. The students test & adjust as needed, until it performs satisfactorily.
This video shows testing of a new single AA battery power source instead of the dual AA system that I'd used in the previous 2 years. It saved me some labor because the battery pack came pre-wired to the motor...but it wasn't quite as loud & buzzy as the older versions.
