I'd recommend either Shadar-Kai or Eladrin for the race so you can teleport away if the enemy gets a little too close for comfort

Could take custom linage (if your DM allows) to get one of the feats at level 1 while still meeting the elf prerequisite, and probably lay waste to everything even sooner.

You could also multi class in to gloom stalker ranger for skulker and get another attack a side of your extra attack and action surge all at level 6 or 7

I am starting a DnD campaign tonight and I built a level 1 elf already with same background... I was already on the fence between this and eldrich knight... I think this hits the nail on the head.
