I love using preserves with the Inca because they can work mountain tiles. And mountains are always breathtaking so you can always get the max preserve yields if you place it by the mountains when playing as the Inca

Preserves are AWESOME for the Inca, since the Inca can work mountain tiles for 2 production, and 3 in the industrial era. Mountain tiles always have 4 appeal no matter what, doesn't matter what's next to it. This is an amazing way of turning normally useless and sometimes detrimental tiles into an amazing boost for your empire, depending on how they are arranged you could get use out of all 6 tiles that would normally never get worked. This is also great for mulitplayer as Inca are the only civ that can work mountain tiles, making the city quite useless when conquered and quickly starve from lack of food.

However the hard part is the appealing tiles, mostly those "appealing" Tiles appear on where the best industrial zone or campus or faith tiles located, not only that prioritizing production, gold, or faith early and getting the great person like prophet is way way better than some better yield, preserve is good at mid game after you finished building all of the zones, followed with the ability to grow trees and such, and cut down those pesky jungle

Holy site also can give culture or gold or food or production, commercial hubs can give science equal to the neigbouring bonus during golden age, all districts can give culture in golden age, industrial zone building can provide culture if you take the right great engineer, some civs and buildings give you science and culture based on the faith ur city produces so you can make holy sites and boost science and culture with them

Pair best with Vietnam for quick wood planting and spamming preserves everywhere. Also good with Kupe who has bonus over unimproved tiles

Other than inca or moari i only use preserves on nat wonders or resourceless areas

Yeah, too bad preserves do not give us great people points.

Preserves are only good for America and Inca, and even as America I struggle to use them effectively.
Any city that can build them easily would be better off building the individual science, faith, etc districts
Any city small enough that they'd benefit from a preserve would be better off just providing trade routes so you can build the city with gold
